The first draft of a layout that I like
Pros:
- I like this font
- The combination of the smaller details e.g date doesn't look bad with the border
- There's intertextuality in the copy
Cons/Not sure
- Is a border truly necessary, and if so, should it be thinner, fainter, and red?
- Copy: Perhaps there needs to be stronger on actual current affairs- events and social issues- but the vagueness may be enigmatic???
The copy could say 'The rebels with a cause'
Front cover topic ideas:
1. Printing out past racist articles- particularly The Daily Mail about immigrants and do a newspaper photoshoot?- The trend of newspaper shoots
Right-wing news agenda to perpetuate negative stereotypes of people of color
Stuart Hall's theory of representation: To deconstruct stereotypes I can appropriate representations so they are suddenly devalued - mocking stereotypes
Or providing counter-typical representations
2. Do something to do with armchair protesting while in quarantine- 'Armchair Activists: Justice in quarantine'- intertextuality to Get Out
Articles: Coronavirus and anti-Asian racism, TikTok and how racism became a trend, the police brutality and different treatment of black + white people in America
3. Climate change
- Protests
- Beach shoot
- Placards
4. Could do a front cover of three young activists, however, this could be done for the climate change issue
5. Could do a cover of a 'celebrity', an individual who I represent as politically vocal so the photos would be portraits
Next aim:
To make sure that the front covers have a consistent creative style? Elements of recognisability
